In a recent interview, Oscar de la Hoya has delved into the story of his family, specifically discussing the profound impact of fatherhood on his life.
With his documentary 'The Golden Boy' set to be released soon, the former boxer is using promotional opportunities to share personal reflections with various media outlets.
In recent comments, De la Hoya set aside sports talk to focus on his more intimate experiences.
De la Hoya openly described his role as a father to all his children, acknowledging the importance of giving credit where it is due.
He expressed gratitude towards Travis Barker, recognizing him as a father figure to his daughter.
"Look, I didn't raise my kids," De la Hoya told ET.
"Their mothers did. And I have to give credit where credit is due, and I'm grateful that Barker was there, you know, as a father figure to my daughter.
"I have to be thankful that Shanna was a mother to Atiana, and I know my place, basically. My place, I obviously am a father, and I'm proud of that.
"But, again, I'm grateful for what they've done. Especially what Barker did. He's obviously stepped up."
Born in 1999, Atiana is De la Hoya's daughter with Shanna Moakler, a former Miss USA. De la Hoya and Moakler broke up when Atiana was just five years old.
Moakler went on to marry Barker in October 2004, although they divorced in 2008.
Despite the break-up, Barker and Atiana developed a strong bond and maintained a great relationship.
De la Hoya expressed that he maintains contact with Barker and has nothing but praise for him.
"He's such a nice guy," De la Hoya noted.
"I have the utmost respect for him. He's such a nice guy. I've talked to him several times, and we communicated about Atiana. I'm grateful for what he's done."
De la Hoya's other children
It's important to note that Aitana is not De la Hoya's only daughter.
He also has two sons, Jacob (25 years old) and Devon (24), from previous relationships with Toni Alvarado and Angelicque McQueen, respectively.
Additionally, he has three children, Oscar (17), Nina (14), and Victoria (nine), with Puerto Rican singer and actress Milagros "Millie" Corretjer, whom De la Hoya married in 2001 and divorced in 2016.
Currently, Oscar de la Hoya is in a relationship with Holly Sonders.
