Sharon Stone gives two thumbs up to The Weekend and Jhonny Depp's daughter Lily Rose-Depp for their performance on HBO's 'The Idol' after it has been receiving slams from Hollywood critics. After Lily Rose-Depp said that she based her character partially on Sharon Stone's character from the controversial Basic Instinct.
Sharon Stone like Sam Levinson's hand in the show
Sharon Stone posted "I just watched the first two episodes of @theidol @lilyrose_depp and Abel (@theweeknd) r so sure-footed."
Euphoria's Sam Levinson is co-producing the series and although his style is already known from his work with Zendaya and the rest of the cast from the show, the critics have said that they were surprised at the sexual tone of the series.
Stone also praised Sam Levinson "the root of crisis (sic) in entertainment; Which comes first the brilliance or the heartache?"
The series is about a pop star portrayed by Lily Rose-Depp that tries to make a comeback after a huge breakdown and her interaction with her producer played by The Weekend is said a risqué sexual relationship.
Lily Rose-Depp said she used Sharon Stone's performance on Basic Instinct
When speaking with Entertainment Tonight Lily Rose-Depp said "We actually drew from a lot of other influences that are not pop stars, We thought a lot about Sharon Stone in 'Basic Instinct' and the Gene Tierney and Lauren Bacalls ... all of these women that were very inspiring to me for the role."
After the show's premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, critics were hard to point out the relationship between Lily Rose-Depp and The Weekend in the show.
Variety posted "Revenge porn photos of bodily fluids on Depp's face, masturbation with ice cubes, nightclub-owning scam artists and vile Hollywood sycophants populated the first two episodes of the already-controversial series,"
