We see them on our TV screens and have their music on our most-listened on Spotify, but it's quite something when we spot them having a curry at our local.
Everyone loves spotting a famous face in their hometown, and there have been plenty of interesting celebrity sightings in Glasgow.
Here are just a few times we’ve spotted some well-known faces in our city.
Queen Bey sent Glasgow fans wild when she shared a photo on her Instagram page back in 2014.
The songstress had performed two sold-out shows to crowds at the Hydro and after her stint in the city, she shared a photo of the wall outside Hanoi Bike Shop on Ruthven Lane.
Regulars were quick to recognise the spot, and while Beyoncé didn’t add any captions or selfies to the cryptic post, the restaurant confirmed that she “didn’t get the picture by accident”.
The Titanic actor is famously passionate about the environment and the fight against climate change, but it was still a total shock when he popped up at the SEC when Glasgow hosted COP26 in 2021.
He was in town to meet with the president of Costa Rica to discuss deforestation and protecting species and habitats, and when word spread, huge crowds of people gathered to get a glimpse of the Wolf of Wall Street in Finnieston.
Thank U, Next singer Ariana visited Glasgow in 2019 as part of her Sweetener Tour. She checked into the Blythswood and was reportedly enjoying a luxurious stay at the penthouse suite, which can set you back 2500 per night.
Any hopes for a quiet night in her suite were disrupted by a fire alarm which evacuated the whole hotel. Ari shared a video to Instagram where she pointed a middle finger at the fire alarm – guess she wasn’t too happy about it.
Glasgow is known for its fantastic restaurants, and it seems that word gets around on where to get a cracking curry in town.
Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando Bloom visited Mister Singh’s in Charing Cross during a trip to Glasgow, and Braveheart actor Mel Gibson also dined there quite recently when he was visiting the city to take part in ‘An Evening with Mel Gibson’ at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel.
Michael Keaton aka Bruce Wayne aka Batman flew into Glasgow – albeit on a plane – last February to film scenes for the Batgirl movie, in which he was going to reprise his role as the masked vigilante before the production was scrapped.
The legendary actor swooped into Glasgow Airport on a private plane and was later spotted in the city, even having dinner at city centre eatery Sarti.
Yellow cabs with American licence plates and street signs filled George Square as Glasgow was transformed into Philadelphia for the filming of World War Z back in 2011.
Leading man Brad Pitt was seen shooting scenes for the zombie apocalypse action thriller, and his then-partner Angelina Jolie and their children even made the journey too.
It was rumoured the Brangelina clan were staying in the Carnell Estate residence in Ayrshire during their time in Scotland.
One of the most incredible celeb sightings in Glasgow took place only weeks ago, when Priscilla Presley dined at Murphy’s Pakora Bar and Sarti during a brief stay here in March.
The wife of the late King of Rock and Roll Elvis was on her UK tour for ‘An Evening with Priscilla Presley’ when she stopped by two of Glasgow’s most popular restaurants.
Staff said they were honoured to serve her.
