Star struck: Celebrities return to High Point after 2-year absence - Furniture Today

HIGH POINT — After a two-year pandemic-related interruption, the High Point Market is returning to a semblance of normalcy, and many celebrities with industry connections return for the first time since 2019 to tout their newest lines and participate in market events.

Designer, tastemaker and television personality Thom Filicia, is participating a seminar during market as well as a couple of showroom events, including an event in the Feizy Rugs showroom at Showplace, space 2300, today from 2-6 p.m.

American interior designer, reality television personality and author Bobby Berk will be at the Karastan Rugs’ showroom (International Home Furnishings Center, D-443) today from 4-5 p.m. to introduce his rug line with the company.

The Australian model and businesswoman Miranda Kerr was on hand yesterday to introduce her furnishings collaboration with Universal Furniture. Today, she is the High Point Market Authority’s featured speaker in its Keynote Series. “Transforming Your Passion into Business” is set for 3-4 p.m. at the High Point Theatre.

The HGTV personalities from the TV series Home Town Erin and Ben Napier attended the first day of the fall market for a book signing and meet-and-greet event in the Vaughan-Bassett showroom. In addition to touting their new book, “Make Something Good Today,” the Napiers were showing off their latest design collaboration with Vaughan-Bassett, a bedroom collection called Passageways.

British-Canadian designer, businesswoman, television host and former actress Hilary Farr has collaborated this season with Kaleen Rug for two new collections. In addition, she will join HGTV designer Nancy Fire for “Navigating the Sustainable Product World at Center Stage,” 11 a.m.-noon on Monday, Oct. 18.

The Emmy-winning television persona, stylist, designer and best-selling author Carson Kressley will be at the High Point Theatre on Oct. 19 and 20 to tape six episodes for his design talk show, Couched, produced by The Design Network. Market attendees with a valid fall market pass are invited to be a part of the live studio audience. The episodes will debut in December on TV a number of streaming platforms.

Designer, entrepreneur and HGTV celebrity Breegan Jane started her fall market visit as a moderator for the HPMA Keynote Series on the market’s opening day. Today, she follows up with a meet-and-greet event at Hooker Furnishings (IHFC, IH-301), 4-6 p.m.

Tomorrow, Jane continues her busy market schedule leading a discussion on the 2021 Wood Furniture Scorecard Results from 2-3 p.m. at Center Stage. Later in the day, she will be the keynote speaker for the annual Pinnacle Awards gala, set for 6-9 p.m. at 1547 W. English Road.

Jane rounds out her High Point Market on Tuesday, Oct. 19, at Style Spotters Live! in the IHFC ballroom from 9-10 a.m.

Interior designer, author and television personality Libby Langdon will be at the Fairfield Chair Co. showroom 11 a.m.-noon on Monday, Oct. 18, for the Fairfield Design Challenge. The showroom is located at 200 N. Hamilton St., North Court 101.

Interior designer and TV personality Cortney Novogratz made her market appearance to introduce her new living room and bedroom collections with manufacturer Dorel Home, on hand for a meet-and-greet event accompanied by a book signing.
