Sometimes celebrities want to branch out and try something new, and a lot of them want to try to start a career in the music industry. There are a few celebrities that are triple threats — singers, dancers, and actors, however, some think they are, but they're not. Over the years, there has been a number of celebrities who have tried to have music careers, only to have them fail miserably.
Whether it's the fact that they can't actually sing, they don't have the fanbase that they think they do, or it just fell flat for no reason at all, there are plenty of careers that have gone nowhere.
10 Paris Hilton
Back in 2006, Paris Hilton decided that it was time for her to try her hand at a music career. She released her first single, "Stars Are Blind," a song that was auto-tuned beyond belief. Even though the track was heavily edited, the song was indeed catchy. That same year, she released her debut album, Paris.
The album didn't do as well as Paris had hoped it would, and her music career ultimately fizzled out, as she never released another album after that. Instead, Paris decided to go in a different musical direction, giving DJing a try instead of singing. Paris found a lot more success in the DJ world, proving that singing wasn't for her, that's for sure.
9 Naomi Campbell
Naomi Campbell is most known for being a controversial model, however, there was a time when Naomi wanted to have her own successful music career. In 1994, Naomi released her debut album, Babywoman, which did terribly. The album only had one single, and barely gained any traction, causing the album to not even touch the charts in America.
In the UK, the album made it to #75, but ultimately fell off the charts not long after. The project definitely didn't do as well as Naomi had intended it to, which is most likely the reason she hasn't released anything since, nor does she even acknowledge the fact that she tried (and failed) to have a music career.
8 David Hasselhoff
David Hasselhoff is another actor who wanted to turn into a musician. In the late 1980s, David's quest to become a famous musician began. He released his debut album Night Rocker, in 1985. Unfortunately for David, the album didn't gain as much traction in the United States as he planned and wanted it to.
On the other hand, though, the album went straight to number 1 in Austria and charted pretty high in Germany and other European countries. Over in Europe, specifically in Austria and Germany, people absolutely love David Hasselhoff. David might not have gotten the music career that he wanted in America, but he's pretty well-loved over in Germany, that's for sure.
7 Tom Hardy
He might not look like it, especially with all of the bad-ass and serious roles he takes on, but Tom Hardy tried to be a rapper once upon a time. When Tom Hardy was a teenager, way before he was in The Dark Knight Rises, and Mad Max: Fury Road, he had a budding rap career.
Recently, a long lost mixtape under the name Eddie Too Tall surfaced on Bandcamp, and Tom confirmed that Eddie Too Tall, is, in fact, him. He explained that the mixtape was made back in 1999, but it was never fully finished. As a result, Tom's career fizzled before it could even begin.
6 Lindsay Lohan
Once upon a time, Lindsay Lohan was everywhere you would turn. She starred in some high profile movies and was Hollywood's "it" girl. When Lindsay was at the peak of her career, she decided that she would dip into the music world, where she would try her hand at a music career.
Lindsay's first album did pretty well, however, she had some things going against her, and it had a lot to do with timing. Her career came between two big times — the late 90s/early 2000s of the Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears era, and the upcoming late 2000s like Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers. After the release of her second album, things fizzled out for Lindsay's music career.
5 Kim Kardashian
It's really no surprise that one of the Kardashians tried to have a music career and failed miserably, and that Kardashian was none other than Kim. In 2011, she released her very first single, "Jam (Turn It Up)." Even though she teamed up with some of the most famous people in the music industry, the single still fell really flat.
The only good part about the single was that a portion of the proceeds from the sales was donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Besides the fact that the single was helpful for charity, Kim has a lot of regrets about doing the song, and as a result, she never released music again.
4 Heidi Montag
Back in the day, Heidi Montag was a reality star that tried to do anything and everything to stay relevant and have people talking about her. As a result, she ultimately decided that she wanted to try her hand at having a music career. In 2010, she released her debut album titled Superficial. In not so many words, it was a bad debut album.
There were barely any good reviews, if there were any, at all. She tried anything and everything to save her barely-there music career. Unfortunately, it failed miserably, and Heidi later admitted that she spent over $2 million trying to make it happen.
3 Jennifer Love Hewitt
Jennifer Love Hewitt has had a long career, starting when she was just a young girl. Before she really got into acting, Jennifer wanted to try to start her own music career, and as a result, released her very first album, Love Songs when she was just 12 years old in 1992. The reception to the album wasn't as great as she'd hoped it would be, however, that didn't discourage her from continuing to make music, wanting her career to flourish.
In total, Jennifer released four studio albums between 1992 and 2002, and none of them garnered the attention that she was hoping for. As a result, her music career fizzled out and she decided to stick to acting for good, ending her less than stellar music career.
2 Tyra Banks
We all know Tyra Banks as an amazing supermodel and television host, but many people often forget that Tyra tried to have her own music career. For six years from 1998 to 2004, Tyra tried to make her career happen. In 2004 she released a pretty decent song, "Shake Ya Body." Unfortunately for Tyra, that would be the first and last song she'd release.
When she retired from modeling, she missed the limelight and tried anything to have it back, and that to her meant a music career. She sought help from big names in the music industry, but at the end of the day, she wasn't cut out to be a pop star, as she honestly couldn't even sing. As much as she wanted a singing career to happen, it just couldn't, and wouldn't.
1 Brie Larson
Best known for her role as Captain Marvel, many people might be surprised to find out that Brie Larson once had a music career. In the mid-2000s, Brie was signed to a record label and she released her debut album, Finally Out of P.E. in 2005.
Surprisingly, Brie was a bit of a pop-punk princess similar to that of Avril Lavigne. Unfortunately for Brie, the album sales were rather low and not as high as they had anticipated. As a result, her music career fizzled out, and she transitioned to acting full time.
