I personally would have taken some of these stories to the grave.
1. Successful: Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra

Nick reached out to Priyanka over Twitter in 2016 and wrote "I'm hearing from a few mutual friends that we should meet" — to which she replied, "My team can read this. Why don't you just text me?" The two are now married and share a child together.
2. Less successful: Demi Lovato and Emily Hampshire

"You slid in my DMs and you said, 'Hey, I like you on the show. We should kick it sometime,'" Emily recalled on Demi's podcast last year. "And then you said, below it, 'And by kick it, I mean go on a date. I find you attractive.' You made it clear it was a date." Though Emily thought Demi was too young for her, the pair ended up becoming friends.
3. Successful: Sarah Hyland and Wells Adams

“Have you seen those memes of ‘Slide Into the DMs’? That. He slid into my DMs,” Sarah explained back in 2018. “I thought he was funny, and he was a fan of [my] show. I saw him as the bartender and I was like, ‘That’s really cute!’” The two are currently engaged.
4. Less successful: Harry Jowsey and Saweetie

The Too Hot to Handle alum revealed that he'd sent and unsent many messages to the rapper, only to be left on read. "Saweetie, I know you watch this," he said earlier this year. "I'm in love with you. Please reply."
5. Successful: Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas

Sophie said that their mutual friends had been trying to set them up for a while, but it was Joe who made the first move. "We were following each other on Instagram and he direct messaged me one fine day, out of the blue," she recalled back in 2019. The two are now married and expecting their second child together.
6. Less successful: Drake and Mia Khalifa (probably)

When asked in 2015 what celebs had slid into her DMs, Mia said a man whose name rhymed with "Rake" sent her a half-naked pic via Instagram. "It was flattering but his intentions were clear. It was just so cringeworthy," she added.
7. Successful: Amber Riley and Desean Black

Amber first slid into Desean's DMs after spotting him on social media, writing, “Hey Desean, how are you?” — to which he replied, “Hey beautiful I’m doing great and you???” The two split a few months ago, but were engaged for two years.
8. Less successful: Steve Aoki and Iggy Azalea (probably)

Iggy shared a TikTok last year where she revealed the DMs she's received from plenty of celebs — excluding their names, but including their follower count. Some sleuths were able to deduce who the senders likely were — including Steve, who seemingly offered her $15,000 for a conversation.
9. Successful (depending on who you ask): Elon Musk and Grimes

Elon slid into Grimes' Twitter DMs for some good-ol' AI banter back in 2018. The musician and the billionaire have since split, but share two children together.
10. Less successful: Bella Thorne and Cole Sprouse

In 2017, Bella responded to a series of Instagram story pics of Cole with a simple "Wow." Just one small problem — it wasn't Cole she was messaging, but a fan account. She quickly deleted the message.
11. Successful: Ricky Martin and Jwan Yosef

Ricky first reached out to his now-husband over Instagram to talk about his art. “Then we were talking for like six months without me hearing his voice. We talked about art – nothing sexy," he said in 2017. "I swear, nothing sexy. It was all about art and life in general. He used to live in London, I went to London and I met him.”
12. Moderately successful: Lizzo and Chris Evans

Lizzo shared in a TikTok last year that she'd drunkenly DM'd America's Ass to "Shoot her shot" — to which he replied, "No shame in a drunk DM. God knows I've done worse on this app." It doesn't seem that the two actually met up after that, but it gave us a smile at the very least.
13. Successful: Holland Taylor and Sarah Paulson

Though the two actually did meet first IRL — a "very, very long time ago" — it took Holland reaching out to Sarah a decade later via a Twitter DM for their relationship to start. “We sort of breezed by each other and then started following each other on Twitter…and then…” Sarah told Andy Cohen back in 2019.
