HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A man who was driving a white pickup truck stole a 6-foot tall Hanukkah menorah from a home on Saturday in Hollywood.

On Monday, the Chabad of Dania Beach delivered a 9-foot menorah to the home. Rabbi Eli Eckstein said he wanted to send a message of resilience.

“Instead of feeling depressed or upset, we are going to spread it even more,” Eckstein said. “We are going to light it and have the entire community come out.”

Jews around the world started the annual eight-day celebration, also known as the Festival of Lights, on Sunday at sundown.

Witnesses in the Emerald Hills neighborhood told the homeowner they saw the man driving around with the family’s silver menorah, which is made out of aluminum.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the stolen menorah to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
