As violent protesters stormed the U.S. Capitolon Wednesday during the counting of electoral votes to confirm President-elect Joe Biden, the world was watching. That included folks in the entertainment world, many of whom were compelled to comment on social media as police evacuated lawmakers from the scene and chaos and disruption ruled.
Many were swift to condemn President Donald Trump, saying he had incited the mob with speeches challenging the 2020 presidential election results and urging supporters to push back against what he called a “rigged” election. Others angrily called for Congress to impeach Trump and for cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment. Still others proclaimed the insurrection to be nothing short of a coup.
