One theater in Hollywood is trading the red carpet for floor mats as it brings movies outdoors for the Arena Cinelounge Drive-In.
The drive-in is set to open on Dec. 1 at 1625 N. Las Palmas Ave. in Hollywood.
Run by Arena Cinelounge, a 60-seat independent theater, the drive-in will open in a parking lot behind the Egyptian Theater with plans to screen new and classic films nightly.
Some of the new films on the bill so far include Mel Gibson’s Santa Claus thriller “Fatman,” and “Wander,” a conspiracy thriller starring Aaron Eckhart.
There’s also going to be something for the sci-fi fans with the Bruce Willisaction flick “Breach,” and “Archenemy,” a sci-fi/superhero film that stars Joe Manganiello.
The drive-in will also screen documentaries such as the 2002 film “The Weather Underground,” about the activist group from the 1970s.
Beyond movies, future plans include laser light shows with a DJ as well as art installations.
