Spotting a celebrity in the stands of Arthur Ashe Stadium at the U.S. Open is not a challenge: the seats are peppered with Hollywood stars, politicians, musicians, and all sorts of famous faces. The U.S. Open is absolutely a see and be seen event for New York City.
For opening night of the tennis tournament, to watch Serena Williams play ahead of her retirement, the stars were absolutely out in full force. Tickets were a hot commodity; after Williams announced her decision to step away from the sport she has dominated for so long, prices jumped over 300%. You had to know someone who knows someone to get in—and all these celebrities definitely knew someone.
From designer Vera Wang to actor Hugh Jackman to even former president Bill Clinton, here's every celebrity who has attended the 2022 U.S. Open. (We'll update this post as the tournament goes on.)

The Hadid sisters, and La La Anthony, were in the crowds to cheer on Serena Williams during her second round match at the Open.
Spike Lee wore a coordinating hat-and-suit look to root for Serena.
Jared Leto kept it casual in the stands.
Seal was spotted in a Nike bucket hat at night three of the U.S. Open.
Jeremy Sisto was snapped carrying a ginormous tennis ball.
Governor Kathy Hochul paired her business attire with a New York State baseball cap.
Dionne Warwick kept it comfy in a light blue sweatsuit as she took in the tennis.
Zendaya showed up with her mom, Claire Stoermer.
Here's a full look at Zendaya's chic tennis-watching outfit.
Tiger Woods sat in Serena Williams's player's box. Williams wrote in Vogue that Woods encouraged her to get back on the court this past spring. Woods told her, "Serena, what if you just gave it two weeks? You don’t have to commit to anything. You just go out on the court every day for two weeks and give it your all and see what happens." She replied, "All right, I think I can do that."
Laverne Cox showed up to the Open in a futuristic black outfit.

Queen Latifah narrated a video tribute to Serena that played as she walked onto Ashe—and of course, the American rapper and actress was in the audience to cheer on the Queen of tennis.
Actor Hugh Jackman, on a night off from performing in The Music Man on Broadway, was just like any other fan in the stands.
Broadway's Anika Noni Rose, perhaps most famous for voicing Princess Tiana in The Princess and the Frog, sang the national anthem during the opening ceremony—and then stuck around to watch the match.
Model Ashley Graham had a blast in the stands. She posted on her Instagram stories, "@SerenaWilliams we love you GOAT!"
Perhaps the oddest duo of the evening was former U.S. President Bill Clinton seated next to Dr. Ruth Westheimer, a Holocaust survivor turned sex therapist. "Who knows what they’re talking about?" commentator John McEnroe said on ESPN's broadcast.
One of Hillary Clinton's top aides, Huma Abedin, was also in the stands.
Designer Vera Wang looked effortlessly cool wearing sunglasses at night as she watched Williams play.
Actor Anthony Anderson also showed up in Flushings to watch Williams play, wearing a blue suit in the humid NYC weather.
Bella Hadid—along with her sister Gigi Hadid—has long been a fan of Serena Williams, and the Hadids are regular at the U.S. Open. While Gigi was not in attendance last night, Bella was pictured getting really into the match—she sat with the rapper Offset (left) and her boyfriend Marc Kalman (right).
Rebel Wilson was in the stands in a hot pink outfit. The Australian actress brought her girlfriend Ramona Agruma (pictured sitting next to Wilson) along.
Spike Lee, a regular at Knicks games, was just as animated watching the tennis match. He also helped with the coin toss ahead of the match
Former pro boxer Mike Tyson, along with his wife Lakiha Spicer, were in the stands.
Former NBA star-turned-actor Rick Fox also took in the action.
Fox and Tyson weren't the only retired athletes in the stands: Olympic skier Lindsay Vonn was in attendance, looking chic in an all-black outfit and an oversized pink blazer. She's pictured here standing next to Bill Clinton.
The Empress of Soul, Gladys Knight, stayed low-key in a black baseball cap as she watched Williams play.
New York City mayor Eric Adams, along with his girlfriend Tracey Collins, was also spotted at Ashe for the match. Adams wore a fun polka dot blazer—perhaps a nod to tennis balls.
On a night off, Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor popped next door to watch Williams play. (Citi Field and Billie Jean King National Tennis Center are neighbors.)
Last but certainly not least, Serena Williams's husband Alexis Ohanian, her daughter Olympia, sister Isha Price and mom Oracene Price all sat in Williams's box to cheer her on. Olympia wore her hair in braids with white beads, channeling her mom's hairstyle from her first-ever U.S. Open.
