A host of celebrities appear to have withdrawn their likes from Johnny Depp's post-trial statement on Instagram, two months after he emerged victoriously from his defamation court battle against ex-wife Amber Heard.
Depp, 59, filed a $50 million lawsuit against Heard, 36, in response to a 2018 op-ed she co-authored with the American Civil Liberties Union for The Washington Post, in which she said that she was a domestic abuse survivor.
Following a high-profile trial in Fairfax, Virginia, the jury in June found that Heard had, indeed, defamed Depp and awarded him more than $10 million. Depp was ordered to pay $2 million to Heard—who had counter-sued for $100 million—for defaming her via comments made by his attorney Adam Waldman.
Via their respective testimonies during the trial, Depp and Heard accused one another of violence during their ill-fated relationship—allegations they both vehemently denied.
Shortly after the verdict was delivered, Depp, who had received a strong wave of support on social media during the trial, shared a statement on Instagram, in which he said that the "jury gave me my life back."
"False, very serious, and criminal allegations were levied at me via the media, which triggered an endless barrage of hateful content, although no charges were ever brought against me," he said in the statement, in part.
"From the very beginning, the goal of bringing this case was to reveal the truth, regardless of the outcome," he went on. "Speaking the truth was something that I owed to my children and to all those who have remained steadfast in their support of me. I feel at peace knowing I have finally accomplished that.
"I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and the colossal support and kindness from around the world."
The Instagram post attracted more than 19 million likes, with a host of celebrities counting themselves among those who showed their support through social media.
Some big names have loudly supported Depp from the beginning, with Paul McCartney projecting images of the Pirates of the Caribbean star onscreen at his concerts and ex-girlfriend Kate Moss taking the stand to support him in a mega-viral moment.
Even the Republican House Judiciary Committee posted its support.
Following the verdict, a list of celebrities who had liked the post was collated by Reddit users. This list has now been used to compare whose likes have remained on the post.
According to a Twitter thread shared by a Heard supporter, likes by stars including Elle Fanning, Bella Hadid, Orlando Bloom, Robert Downey Jr., Zoey Deutch, Sophie Turner, and Joey King appear to have vanished from Depp's post.

None of the celebrities mentioned in the post have publicly issued statements on why their likes no longer appear on Depp's post.
In the Twitter thread, it was suggested that the recent unsealing of 6,000 pages of court documents relating to the televised trial has led to a number of people changing their stance on supporting Depp.
Some of the bombshell allegations uncovered in the documents include claims that Depp frustrated Disney executives with his behavior on the set of the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie, his texts to Marilyn Manson about Heard, and his purported attempt to use Heard's stint as a stripper against her in court.
The new information has mostly reflected poorly on Depp, legal experts have said, and it has led to Heard supporters mocking the screen star for a deeply personal medical issue that was alleged in the documents—leading to backlash.
Heard, who was the target of endless scrutiny during her court battle with Depp, has seen a more subdued celebrity support base.
Her Aquaman co-star Jason Momoa carefully chose to like the post-trial statements on both Heard and Depp's Instagram accounts, sending a message that even though he's friends with Heard, he's not picking sides.
Per the Twitter thread shared this week on celebrity supporters, Sarah Paulson, Amanda Seyfried, John Legend, Edward Norton, Lena Headey, and Emily Ratajkowski were listed among those who had shown support for pro-Heard posts.
Kathy Griffin has directly vocalized her support for Heard, taking aim at Depp in the days that followed the trial verdict.
Depp and Heard's legal battle could well continue to dominate headlines for months to come, as both parties are now appealing the verdicts against them.
