What do you get when you place a talk show in the middle of a fast-paced batting practice competition?
You get Major League Baseball’s newest original show, “Celebrity Sluggers," which debuted July 21.
Each episode of “Celebrity Sluggers” features host Hannah Stocking pitching questions and baseballs to some of the biggest stars in entertainment.
Here’s how it all works: Each celebrity guest takes their hacks at the plate over the course of three 10-pitch innings. They can rack up points based on how far they hit each ball -- 10 points for hits in the infield, 25 points for hits to the outfield, 250 points for a home run -- and by nailing targets scattered all across the field. But the difficulty increases each inning as the pitches speed up.
In between each inning, Stocking peppers her guests with interesting, quirky questions from her desk that’s behind first base -- and also doubles as a points target. Stocking’s first guest will be actor Brandon Perea, star of the highly anticipated horror film “Nope.” The following week, Stocking will be joined by social media sensation JoJo Siwa.
The points are tracked on a leaderboard to see who will reign as the high-scoring celebrity, and a donation to Stand Up To Cancer will be made in the name of each guest.
