Hollywood film studios will be using computer-generated imagery (CGI) during sex scenes and other “close contact moments” to minimize the risk of spreading the coronavirus on set.
After Hollywood studios were forced to halt operations due to the rise of COVID-19 cases last March, a film editor’s trade association reportedly released guidelines on how productions could resume operations, as per The Sun last Sunday, June 7.
The guidelines were said to include stipulations on testing actors and production staff on a daily basis, and giving formal hand-washing lessons to everyone on set, including A-list actors.
The guidelines came after the California government gave the go signal for the continuation of Hollywood film productions, starting June 12. The document reportedly stated that “close contact moments” in scripts should either be “rewritten, abandoned” or be fixed with CGI.

Backstage staff should also wear face masks and visors, as per report. TV shows will have to continue airing without a live audience.
Another guideline cited is the use of plexiglass as a divider when conducting auditions. These studios must also have medical “coronavirus compliance officers” present at all times.
In the Philippines, some noontime TV shows have also resumed taping its live shows, such Eat Bulaga and ASAP Natin To. However, these shows are still not welcoming live audiences in compliance with social distancing restrictions.
